Just finished "March" by Geraldine Brooks. This book has an interesting twist. If you are familiar with the story "Little Woman" you know that the father (Mr. March) is a way at war for most of the book. "March" is the story of Mr.March's journey while being away for the civil war. After reading the first chapter i wasn't sure if i would like it because it is very "war" like. But in the second chapter the story actually starts to unfold and i really enjoyed it.
You do not need to know the story of "Little Woman" to read this book. However i think you may enjoy it more if you have more background information on the March family.
